Manual Therapy

Manual therapy utilizes a wide range of techniques using the hands in order to release muscle tension and provide a better structural balance for each patient caused by potential restrictions and malalignment. It is also used to increase temporary inflammation in order to promote and speed up the healing process within the body.

It is useful in diagnosing and treatment as it is specific to each patients needs.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

Scraping, or Gua Sha or Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) uses specialized instruments to identify tension and adhesions within the muscles, tendons, and ligaments. We use these blade like instruments to apply pressure and give a deep tissue massage. These strokes aim to break down the scar tissue and adhesions so that the tissues can return to normal function. The purpose is to increase range of motion, flexibility, and overall function in soft tissue injuries. It can also aid in treating conditions such as tennis elbow, runner's knee, and Achilles tendonitis.
